What this blade is for
These Morse reciprocating saw blades are sold as a 5 pack in a 203mm (8″) length, 20mm width and 0.9mm thickness, with 14 teeth per inch. They are listed for cutting metal.
At 14 TPI the teeth are roughly 1.8mm apart, a medium pitch that suits pipe, conduit, angle iron, box section and other medium-gauge metal. Keeping at least three teeth in the cut means it works best on wall thicknesses of around 5mm and above when cut square; on thinner material, tilt the saw so the blade meets the work at a shallow angle, or step up to an 18 TPI blade.
The 203mm length gives enough reach for most pipes and sections in plumbing, fabrication and maintenance work, while the 0.9mm body allows a little flex for cutting close to a surface.
How to check this is the right blade
Confirm the 203mm overall length and 20mm width against your old blade, then count the teeth over one inch: there should be 14, evenly spaced. Our guides on how blades are measured and which TPI do I need cover the same tooth-pitch thinking for bandsaw blades.
Frequently asked questions
What metals can a 14 TPI reciprocating blade cut?
It is listed for metal and suits steel pipe, tube, angle and similar sections of medium thickness. Use a slower stroke speed and steady pressure for best blade life.
Why does my metal blade keep snagging?
Usually too few teeth are in contact, for example on thin-wall tube. Angle the saw to put more teeth in the cut, or use a finer 18 TPI blade.
