What this blade is for

These Morse reciprocating saw blades are supplied as a 5 pack in a longer 229mm (9″) length, 20mm width and 0.9mm thickness, with 14 teeth per inch. They are listed for metal cutting.

The longer 229mm blade gives extra reach over an 8″ blade, which helps on larger-diameter pipe, wider box section and awkward cuts where the saw cannot get close. Bear in mind that a longer, thinner blade flexes more, so use steady pressure and let the teeth do the work.

At 14 TPI, with about 1.8mm between teeth, it suits medium-gauge metal such as pipe, tube, angle and channel. Aim for at least three teeth in contact; on very thin walls, tilt the saw to lengthen the contact, or use an 18 TPI blade.

How to check this is the right blade

Lay your old blade along a rule to confirm the 229mm length and 20mm width, then count 14 evenly spaced teeth over one inch. If your current blade is 203mm, check your saw and the job need the extra length. Our guides on how blades are measured and which TPI do I need explain these checks in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

When should I choose a 229mm blade instead of 203mm?

Choose 229mm when you need more reach, such as larger pipe or deeper sections. For general work in tight spaces, the shorter 203mm blade is easier to control.

How can I make a 14 TPI metal blade last longer?

Use a slower stroke speed on steel, keep the shoe of the saw against the work to reduce vibration, and avoid forcing the cut. Cutting fluid also helps on thicker metal.
