What this blade is for
These Morse reciprocating saw blades come in a 5 pack and are 254mm (10″) long, 20mm (3/4″) wide and 0.9mm thick, with 18 teeth per inch. They are listed for cutting metal.
The fine 18 TPI pitch puts teeth roughly 1.4mm apart, which is ideal for thin metal: conduit, thin-wall tube, box section, trunking, sheet and light profiles. More teeth in the cut means less snagging and a cleaner edge on thin walls.
The 0.9mm body is the more flexible thickness. It can bend slightly to cut close to a surface, for example trimming a pipe or bracket near a wall, but it is less suited to heavy levering or very thick sections. The 254mm length sits between the shorter 229mm and longer 305mm blades, giving a little extra reach for larger diameters or getting into tight spaces behind fixtures.
How to check this is the right blade
Lay your old blade on a rule and check it is 254mm from tip to shank end, 20mm across its widest point and 0.9mm thick (a caliper is easiest). Then count the teeth across one inch: you should find 18 fine teeth. A 254mm blade is easy to mistake for a 229mm one, so measure the full length. Our how blades are measured and which TPI do I need guides explain the principles.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 0.9mm blade strong enough for metal?
Yes, for thin and medium metal it works well and the flex is useful for flush cutting. For heavy, sustained cutting of thicker sections, a 1.3mm blade is stiffer and wanders less.
How do I stop the blade overheating?
Use a slower stroke speed, keep the shoe pressed against the work and avoid forcing the saw. A little cutting lubricant on steel also helps the teeth last longer.
