What this 2975mm 6 TPI blade is for
This 2975mm x 12.7mm (1/2″) bimetal bandsaw blade has a constant 6 TPI pitch. Bimetal construction puts hard, heat-resistant high-speed steel teeth on a flexible alloy steel back, so the blade keeps cutting in metal and resists fatigue from running round the wheels.
With teeth about 4mm apart and generous gullets, 6 TPI is a coarse-to-medium pitch for heavier work: solid round and flat bar, thick plate and heavier structural sections, as well as deep cuts in timber. You need around 12-13mm of material to keep three teeth engaged, so it is not the right choice for thin tube or sheet, where a finer pitch avoids snagging.
At 2975mm this is a longer blade, typical of larger floor-standing workshop bandsaws. The 12.7mm width keeps cuts straight while still allowing gentle curves on a vertical machine.
How to check this is the right blade
Confirm your machine takes a 2975mm blade (the machine plate or manual will say) and that the width is 12.7mm from tooth tip to back edge. Count 6 teeth over one inch (25mm). Our guides how are bandsaw blades measured and which TPI do I need explain both checks in more detail.
Frequently asked questions
Constant pitch or variable pitch – which do I need?
A constant 6 TPI suits work where the section size stays similar. If you cut a wide mix of sizes, a variable pitch blade may suit you better. See straight constant pitch for a comparison.
Is this blade suitable for wood?
Yes, bimetal blades cut timber well and last a long time, but for wood-only work a carbon blade is a cheaper option.
