What this blade is for
This 5 pack of Morse reciprocating saw blades is 229mm (9″) long, 20mm wide and 1.3mm thick, with 6 teeth per inch. It is listed for cutting wood.
At 6 TPI the teeth sit a little over 4mm apart, so each stroke removes plenty of timber and the large gullets clear sawdust quickly. It is a blade for speed rather than finish: think fence posts, sleepers, studwork, joists, logs and rough carpentry.
The 1.3mm body is the main difference from the thinner 0.9mm version. A thicker blade bends less, so it holds a straighter line in deep cuts and copes better with heavy, sustained use. The trade-off is less flex for flush cutting against a surface. The 229mm length gives useful reach through thicker sections without the extra whip of a 300mm blade.
How to check this is the right blade
Lay your old blade on a rule and check it is 229mm from tip to shank end, 20mm across its widest point and 1.3mm thick (a caliper is easiest). Then count the teeth across one inch: you should find 6 large teeth. If the blade bends easily by hand it is probably the thinner 0.9mm type. Our how blades are measured and which TPI do I need guides explain the principles.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose 0.9mm or 1.3mm thickness?
Choose 1.3mm when you want stiffness and straighter cuts in heavy timber. Choose 0.9mm when you need the blade to flex, for example when cutting flush to a wall or floor.
Can this blade cut through nails?
It is listed for wood only. For timber that may hide nails or screws, pick a wood and metal blade from our reciprocating saw blade range.
