What this blade is for
This 5 pack contains Morse reciprocating saw blades 203mm (8″) long, 20mm wide and 0.9mm thick with a constant 10 TPI tooth pitch. It is listed as suitable for wood and metal, so it sits between a fast wood blade and a fine metal blade.
A constant 10 TPI pitch spaces the teeth about 2.5mm apart. That is fine enough to cut steel sections and thicker-walled tube without snagging, yet open enough to keep moving through timber. As a rule, keep at least three teeth in the material, so on metal this blade is happiest on sections from around 7.5mm upwards; for thinner tube or sheet, a 14 or 18 TPI blade is a better match.
The 203mm length gives enough reach for most framing, pipe and general strip-out work, and the 0.9mm body can flex slightly for flush cuts against a wall or floor.
How to check this is the right blade
Check the length end to end (203mm), the width (20mm) and count the teeth over one inch: you should count 10, evenly spaced. If your old blade has uneven spacing, it was a variable pitch blade such as a 10/14. Our guides on how blades are measured and which TPI do I need explain the same checks for bandsaw blades.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 10 TPI and 10/14 TPI?
A 10 TPI blade has evenly spaced teeth. A 10/14 blade alternates its spacing, which runs smoother on mixed materials and thinner sections.
Will this blade cut thin sheet metal?
It is not ideal: on thin sheet too few teeth are in contact, which can cause snatching. Choose an 18 TPI metal blade for thin sheet.
