About this 5035mm 27mm 3/4 TPI bimetal blade

This is a bimetal bandsaw blade, 5035mm long and 27mm wide, with a 3/4 variable tooth pitch. Bimetal blades have a high speed steel (HSS) tooth edge welded to a flexible spring steel back, so the teeth keep their edge in metal while the band copes with constant flexing around the wheels.

The 3/4 variable pitch alternates between 3 and 4 teeth per inch, so the teeth are widely spaced with deep gullets. That is what large solid sections need: big round and square bar, thick plate, heavy-walled tube and billets in mild steel, alloy steel and stainless steel. The varying tooth spacing also helps reduce vibration and noise. With so few teeth per inch, work must be fairly thick to keep three teeth in the cut, so thin tube and sheet are better served by a finer pitch.

A 27mm wide band is stiff and resists deflection, which helps it cut straight and square through big sections. A 5035mm length points to a larger industrial metal-cutting bandsaw, so check the exact length on your machine plate.

Use suitable coolant and let a new blade run in with reduced feed for the first cuts to get the longest life from the HSS edge.

How to check this is the right blade

Check the length printed on your machine plate or on the old blade, and confirm it is 5035mm. Measure the width across the band from the tooth tips to the back edge: it should be 27mm. Then count the teeth over 25mm (one inch) and you should find alternating 3 and 4 teeth, averaging about 3.5. Our guides how are bandsaw blades measured and which TPI do I need explain each check step by step.

What does 3/4 TPI mean?

It is a variable pitch blade: the tooth spacing alternates between 3 and 4 teeth per inch along the blade, giving the chip clearance of a coarse blade with smoother cutting.

Can I cut thin-wall tube with this blade?

It is not ideal. On thin walls fewer than three teeth are in contact and they can snag or strip. Choose a finer pitch for tube and sheet.

Is a carbon blade an alternative here?

Not for heavy steel sections. Carbon blades are best kept for wood and soft materials; this kind of work needs the heat resistance of bimetal.
