About these 305mm 14 TPI metal blades

This 5 pack of Morse reciprocating saw blades is 305mm (12″) long, 25mm (1″) wide and 1.3mm thick, with 14 teeth per inch, and is listed for cutting metal.

14 TPI is a medium pitch for metal. The teeth are a little under 2mm apart, giving enough gullet space to clear chips on thicker walls while still keeping several teeth in contact. It suits medium and heavy-wall steel pipe, angle iron, channel, flat bar and threaded rod. For thin-wall tube and sheet, a finer 18 or 24 TPI blade is less likely to snag.

The 25mm width and 1.3mm thickness make this a stiff, heavy-duty blade. That stiffness helps on long cuts with the full 305mm length, where a thinner blade would tend to wander, and it copes well with demanding dismantling and fabrication work.

How to check this is the right blade

Check your old blade is 305mm long and 25mm wide, and measure the body thickness with a caliper (1.3mm). Count the teeth over one inch – there should be 14. For tips on measuring blades and choosing a pitch, see how are bandsaw blades measured and which TPI do I need.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use cutting fluid with a 14 TPI metal blade?

On thicker steel a little cutting fluid or lubricant helps keep the teeth cool and sharp. Run the saw at a moderate speed rather than flat out.

Why choose a 25mm wide blade?

A wider blade bends less, so it holds a straighter line on long or deep cuts. A narrower blade is handier for tight spaces.
