What this blade is for
This 5 pack of Morse reciprocating saw blades is 305mm (12″) long, 20mm (3/4″) wide and 0.9mm thick, with 10 teeth per inch. It is listed for both wood and metal, making it a general demolition and renovation blade.
At 10 TPI the teeth are about 2.5mm apart: coarse enough to cut timber at a reasonable pace, yet fine enough to get through nails, screws and light metal fixings without stripping teeth. That makes it well suited to stripping out stud walls, cutting through pallets, removing window frames and general strip-out work where you cannot be sure what is hidden in the timber.
The 305mm length gives plenty of reach, handy for cutting through thick timbers or reaching into awkward spaces. Longer blades can whip more, so keep the shoe firmly against the work. The 0.9mm thickness adds flex for cutting flush to floors and walls.
How to check this is the right blade
Lay your old blade on a rule and check it is 305mm from tip to shank end, 20mm across its widest point and 0.9mm thick (a caliper is easiest). Then count the teeth across one inch: you should find 10 evenly spaced teeth. Also check the blade still reaches through your thickest work with the saw at full stroke. Our how blades are measured and which TPI do I need guides explain the principles.
Frequently asked questions
What does a wood and metal reciprocating blade mean?
It has a tooth pitch that copes with both materials, so it can cut timber that contains nails or screws without needing a blade change.
When would a shorter blade be better?
For smaller work, a shorter blade vibrates less and is easier to control. Choose the shortest blade that still passes fully through the material.
