Carbon bandsaw blades are vital tools across various industries due to their accuracy and efficiency in cutting different materials such as timber, metal, and plastic. These blades are meticulously forged from high-carbon steel, known for its durability, toughness, and edge retention. Their composition primarily consists of carbon steel, providing advantages such as resistance to wear and heat build-up, thereby ensuring long-lasting sharpness and consistent performance even in demanding conditions.

About this 3015mm x 4.8mm 24 TPI carbon blade

This made-to-order carbon bandsaw blade is 3015mm long, 4.8mm (3/16″) wide and has 24 teeth per inch. It is a fine-pitch blade for precise work in thin material rather than fast stock removal.

At 24 TPI the teeth sit roughly 1mm apart, so three teeth stay engaged in material from about 3mm thick. That makes it a good match for thin plywood and veneer, acrylic and other plastic sheet, thin-walled tube and thin non-ferrous sheet such as aluminium or brass, where a coarser pitch would snatch or leave a ragged edge.

The 3/16″ band is narrow enough to follow tight curves, so it suits pattern work, model making and small detailed profiles. A 3015mm band is a size used on larger floor-standing bandsaws, so always confirm the length against your own machine.

Carbon steel keeps the cost down and gives a keen edge on wood, plastics and non-ferrous metals. Feed gently and let the blade clear its fine chips - the small gullets fill quickly in thick material.

How to check this is the right blade

Check that your machine’s plate, manual or old blade says 3015mm, measure the band at 4.8mm (3/16″) across from tooth tip to back edge, and count 24 teeth in one inch. Our guides to how bandsaw blades are measured and which TPI you need walk you through it.

Will a 24 TPI blade cut thick wood?

It will, but slowly and with a risk of overheating, because the small gullets pack with sawdust. For timber thicker than about 20mm, a coarser pitch such as 6 or 10 TPI is a better choice.

Is this blade suitable for cutting steel?

This carbon blade is intended for wood, plastics and non-ferrous metals. For regular steel cutting a bimetal blade is the more durable option.
